The 2004 NCWTA Annual Meeting marked the 39th occasion upon which North Carolina trade professionals gathered to exchange ideas, receive updates on contemporary issues, network, and have fun. Seventy-one members and guests participated in the annual golf tournament. Over a hundred conferees, including exporters, importers, and service providers, heard from nine major speakers, participated in Trade Café breakaway events, and witnessed the inaugural Great Trade Debate, pitting John Bassett III, CEO and President of Vaughn Bassett Furniture, and Chris Warren, President of Mayland Court, LLC.

The North Carolina World Trade Association, a membership organization, provides leadership, support, and voice for individuals, institutions and companies engaged or interested in international trade and services. The association promotes the growth and enhancement of trade between North Carolina and the world.


Through our advocacy, education and networking programs, the NCWTA helps North Carolinians participate in the trade odyssey of the twenty-first century. Founded in 1962, the NCWTA has seven chapters across the state and is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the nation.


The NCWTA annual conference is one of the main international trade events in the state. The 2001 conference was held in Charlotte, the business center of North Carolina, at the Adams Mark Hotel in the center of the city. Featuring John Naisbitt, the renowned futurist and author of High Tech/high touch, as the keynote speaker at dinner on Thursday, May 3, the program provided insights into the companies and trends that are the future of North Carolina’s international business.
